Research interests

In my PhD project, I am analyzing microbial community differences in root- and hyphae-associated compartments. I am interested in finding out whether the plant host genotype can impact the bacterial- and fungal communities even in the hyphosphere. Therefore, I conducted three consecutive field studies and developed a method to isolate fungal hyphae with their attached microbes from loamy soil.

In addition, I am enjoying project coordination of the German and Ukrainian research- and teaching project “Plant-Ukraine”. Within Plant-Ukraine we are offering students from Ukraine and Germany to develop, conduct and analyze their own experiments in the field of climate change, and its effect on plant growth and biodiversity.
