Research interests

My research focuses on the transcriptional regulation of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis in L. japonicus. I am mainly interested in the characterization of transcription factors CBX1 and CBX2 which were previously identified in our lab. CBX1 and CBX2 were shown to bind to CTTC motif and AW-box which are found in the promoters of mycorrhiza-specific phosphate transporters and fatty acid biosynthesis genes, respectively. As arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis involves in the exchange of carbon, most likely in the form of fatty acid, from host plants and phosphate from fungi, CBX1 and CBX2 make great candidates for my study.
